CHRISM MASS

  Bishop Peter says
"The blessing of the Holy Oils at this Mass illustrates vividly who we are and what we are called to be and to do. At the Easter Vigil the newly blessed oils will be used for the first time in the initiation of new members of the Church as they are anointed with the Oil of Catechumens in preparation for Baptism and sealed with the Oil of Chrism and the gift of the Holy Spirit in Confirmation.
They will become a new creation, salt and light to the earth.
What brings about that new creation, what gives taste and light in our lives and our relationships is Jesus, who is love, and that love reflected in our love for one another."
Following the Chrism Mass in the Cathedral the Holy Family team had a quick picnic in Cathedral garden before driving back.

There was a full church of parishioners and children at Holy Family on Good Friday morning to participate in the Children’s Service.
The children acted out scenes from the passion and had a procession around the church.

At the end of the service everyone was offered a specially baked hot cross bun

In a very moving part of the service two people from the congregation, Louise and Shaun, were baptised and confirmed.
