Bishop Peter celebrated Mass with the priests and people of the Slough Pastoral Area to mark Pope Benedict’s “Year for Priests”.
He encouraged the laity to care for their priests and to pray for vocations.

Furthermore, the Bishop is encouraging each Pastoral Area in the Diocese to take part in what he has called “The Walking Humbly with our God” process. This is designed to promote renewal in all our parishes.  For this purpose he has appointed a Dean (Father Kevin), a Pastoral Area Link (Margaret Lawrence) and a small Steering Group made up of representatives from each of the parishes in the area (Kieran McKeown, Lorette Carter, Mike Connolly, Michael Ossei-Williams, Maria Corcoran, Sister Catherine Skelton  and Tracy Woodison.

PRAYER  FOR  PRIESTS

Jesus, I pray for all your priests:
those labouring at home or abroad in the missions.
I pray for priests in difficult and lonely situations;
for the newly ordained,
the elderly and those who have died.

But above all
I pray for the priest who baptised me;
the priests who forgave my sins;
the priests at whose masses I assisted
and who gave me your Body and Blood
in Holy Communion;
the priests who taught and instructed me;
and for all the priests to whom I am indebted
in any other way.

Jesus, keep all priests close to your heart,
and bless them abundantly.  Amen.

St John Vianney, pray for us and for all priests.

.
After Mass the Bishop met with the Steering Group and gave them an outline of what he would like them to do.
