HOLY FAMILY PARISH, LANGLEY.

The Virginia Water Lake
in Surrey - complete with
Canadian Totem Pole -
is a popular area for
relaxing walks -
and sponsered ones!
The lake is 130 acres in area, and its total length is slightly over two miles and one third of a mile wide at its widest point.
Its circumference is about seven miles and is one of the largest artificial lakes in England.

On Saturday, 16th. April it was the location for the Holy Family sponsered walk.

The walk was to be twice around Virginia Water Lake.
This was so that Holy Family Parish can support some of it's young people in attendance at the World Youth Day to be held in Cologne in August this year.

" Phew! Thank goodness that's over."

" Sorry, Father, we're only half way. We have to walk around it twice!"

World Youth Day 2005 will be the 20th of these annual events, which were begun by Pope John Paul II in the early years of his pontificate.

The theme of the 20th World Youth Day is: 'We have come to worship him', which we will prepare for in a variety of ways, as well as thinking a little bit more about at The Vigil

Every 3 years (previously every 2 years), the Church invites young people from all across the world to get together in a designated city, this year it is Cologne, Germany, to meet each other, to have a laugh, to hear from the bishops and cardinals that are gathered there, to pray together, and to attend a special vigil and celebration Mass with the pope.
There are special youth days with messages for the whole world.

Yet
