The UCM’s Langley Foundation held a very successful Bring and Buy Evening at Holy Family on Thursday, 23rd July. The narthex was full to bursting with enthusiastic ladies - purses at the ready. There were members from Windsor and West Drayton and the  Catholic Women’s League was represented with members from Burnham and Gerrards Cross.

Any money raised during the evening would be going to the Catholic Agency For Overseas Development – CAFOD.

A slightly timorous Fr Kevin ventured in to welcome all the ladies,
said grace and declared the buffet well and truly open.

The Langley ladies had prepared and donated an incredible amount of tasty nibbles and provided most of the raffle prizes.

The visitors had also brought along many
items for the evening.

After they had
feasted Fr Kevin
sensibly withdrew
to allow the ladies
to do their thing
for the evening -
make money!

Auctioneer
Ann Budd
and her
active gavel
soon started the
money rolling in.

Ann (if you’ve got it I’ll flog it) Budd.

One of the Irish ladies tells me
that Ann could sell holy water to
an orange lodge –
and I think they’re right.
At the time of publishing
Ann reckons the sale brought in
over £120 and the raffle
will probably be much the same.

Accordionist Rita Wymark kept the evening rolling along and at the end president of the Langley Foundation, Bernadette Bates
thanked everyone for taking part and making the evening such a success.
